The proverb above is the perfect ancient response to modern life. How is it possible that we put such high expectations on ourselves that require a healthy mind (that is productive, flexible, and compassionate) and yet most of us never were taught the importance of meditation?

My name is Heidi, and I have been teaching and writing about meditation, mindfulness, and energy wellness since 2008. The About page has more information about me.

Beginner’s Mind

If you are new to meditation, you’ll fit right in because meditation is all about “beginner’s mind.” In meditation we train ourselves to stay in the present moment, taking a break from worrying about the future or regretting the past. And each time we come to the practice, we do so as if it’s brand new. Imagine how calming and rejuvenating it is to step out of those habits of the mind that ruminate on the past and project into the future. This is just one of the benefits of meditation.

Meditation Practice

Meditation can be fun, life-changing, and the most direct way to get acquainted with the body and mind. We learn to hear the messages of the body when we don’t feel well, and we learn to pay attention to the mind when it’s in need of a break. Without meditation, one can often feel at war with the body or mind. It doesn’t have to be that way. Meditation can help, and it’s been my pleasure to guide so many people in this practice, in person and virtually.
