“You should meditate for twenty minutes a day — unless you’re too busy, then you should meditate for an hour.”
Meditation as Integral to modern life
The proverb above is the perfect ancient response to modern life. How is it possible that we put such high expectations on ourselves that require a healthy mind (that is productive, flexible, and compassionate) and yet most of us never were taught the importance of meditation?
If you’re ready to learn more about meditation and to create a home practice, then you’ve come to the right place. I am so happy you are here. My name is Heidi, and I have been teaching and writing about meditation, mindfulness, and energy wellness since 2008. The About page has more information about me.

“Your presence and meditation were the perfect foundation for an amazing weekend. I am so happy we met.”

Beginner’s Mind
If you are new to meditation, you’ll fit right in because meditation is all about “beginner’s mind.” In meditation we train ourselves to stay in the present moment, taking a break from worrying about the future or regretting the past. And each time we come to the practice, we do so as if it’s brand new. Imagine how calming and rejuvenating it is to step out of those habits of the mind that ruminate on the past and project into the future. This is just one of the benefits of meditation.
“Yay! I love when you lead meditations (at Kripalu), and I haven’t found a meditation app that works as well.”

Meditation Practice
Meditation can be fun, life-changing, and the most direct way to get acquainted with the body and mind. We learn to hear the messages of the body when we don’t feel well, and we learn to pay attention to the mind when it’s in need of a break. Without meditation, one can often feel at war with the body or mind. It doesn’t have to be that way. Meditation can help, and it’s been my pleasure to guide so many people in this practice, in person and virtually.
“Thank you so much, Heidi. Your meditation was such a gift on the last day and helped seal in the learning and energy from the weekend.”
— AMi
Meeting people who are interested in meditation allows me to share what I have learned over the years as I’ve taught at Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, The UltraWellness Center, 1440 Multiversity, and for yoga centers, Silicon Valley companies, and 1:1 private clients. Doctors, teachers, stay-at-home parents, graduate students, and writers are among the many I work with, and our community here grows every day.
